Will this coil work OK with early <84 wbx ignition system?

Post by Zebedee »

I've been having problems starting my caravelle (1.9 WBX) in damp weather. It just turns over and over without firing. :(

I checked the spark at the plugs and there barely was one. At the dizzy end of the HT king lead there was just a weak yellow spark.
I think its got the wrong coil fitted as when checked with my meter it gave 3.5ohms on primary when it should be 0.5-0.8ohms according to haynes. Testing the blue coil in my '73 bay window gives around the same results.
Its not the right coil for use with the hall sensor ingition system anyway. :(

Though its a 1988 the whole ignition system is the earlier <84 system.

Does anyone know if this coil will work OK?
