Start not start??

Post by colynmac »

When I put the ignition key in and turn it, occassionally it does not turn over the starter motor no click or nothing although the lights on the dash come on?

After a couple of attempts it finally connects and starts ok.

I am not a sparky any DIY ideas to rectify?

Any help appreciated

Very likely to be the ignition switch. They are prone to this type of problem. :ok

Hi Brian

Good to hear from my techno buddy.

My 'Volkesie' has been running sweet with just this annoying ignition thing.

If I change it does that mean a new key or can the barrels be swapped?

Thanks

Hi Colin,

Glad things are running well. Such superb vehicles aren't they!

The ignition switch fits in the end of the steering lock housing. Replacing it does not affect the lock. See page 94.2 of Bentley manual. (You do have the Bentley manual don't you? PM me if not.)
