Dimple on pipe?

Post by oddnumber »

Evening chaps, ordered a new pipe from Brickwerks (who delivered next day as ever) to go from waterpump to head to replace the rusted one I have. The new one has two dimples as pictured - I know what the squarish one is there for, but what about the other? Can't imagine where that would go.

Ta very much.

Weird

Don't worry you can have the dimple that's on mine if I don't need it. Did you get a gasket with yours?

Oh well, it's better than the rusted knackered one that's on there now.

It's to make it fit easier round the crankcase behind the pulley but also like the brazed nipple to stop the hose sliding too far along the pipe they were just extra rust attracting features ... if the Brickwerks one doesn't have it (and I only have their stainless version to compare to) they don't think it needs it, and they WOULD know.

Looking at it I think you must have annoyed the postman? He's clearly jumped on it

   Fortunately it's quite thick walled so you can't feel much of a dent inside.
