"Hammerite Rust Remover Gel" Any opinions on effectiveness?
I purchased a 100ml bottle of "Hammerite Rust Remover Gel" yesterday and plan on using the stuff later today. Any opinions on its effectiveness?

used it for years...its not great, but as a stop gap its OK for any last bits of surface rust - spend time removing as much as you can, use it (when you can get rid of no more with wire brush/sannder etc) as directed on the bottle and make sure its covered with a suitable finish asap. If the rust is right through the metal its pretty useless - cut it out and weld new metal

The area that it is to be used on is small and solid. i would have removed it with a mechanical method but it is in a hard to reach spot. I discovered it the other day when preparing for waxoyl-ing. Its in in the well where the rear wheel arch meets the sill on the sliding door side. The weather was brutal here this evening and only got around to scraping the worst of it off with a flat head. I'm down the country to work early tomorrow and not back until next wednesday. I will take pictures of the before and after and get them up then so we will all know what its capabilities are! Fingers crossed
