Just as a bit of closure - I made an earth from the pin on the back of the coolant light to one of the screws that holds the dash pod down - lo and behold, everything works! Coolant light, hazards, everything! Not the most'by the book' of fixes but a fix nonetheless, and that's how it'll stay :lol:

Ah excellent news - thanks for the update (it's always useful for those 'searching' for a fix in the future if folks report back on how they eventually fixed stuff!)
