1.9 engine problems

Post by Sebbo »

Hi all,

I have recently rejoined the world of t25 ownership
I have a t25 predator topped camper
Problem is at high revs it starts smoking and running on its own oil,Now up to this point say 45-50mph its fine, no smoke pulling away or knocking banging etc.
I was told when I brought it that the previous owner over filled it with oil due to it being fitted with the incorrect dipstick. It's a 1.9 n/a diesel please can someone tell me what the correct amount of oil it should have.
The engine has been fitted well with correct sump etc
Plan is to drain oil clean all inlet side of things oil breathers etc top up with correct oil amount and try it

I expect I'm chancing my arm and its probably blow by on the rings but worth a go

Thanks for your time reading this, Any help would be great

ATB

Seb

4.5L. Don't forget to re-mark the dipstick when done!
Hope this sorts it for you.

I made my own - I think it was a Range Rover automatic transmission dipstick but can't be sure. It's no good me telling you the length of mine as I made the tube up myself also.
You will have to stick a piece of wire down and measure it then add some on for the low level - not sure exactly how many litres that low is though.
