Sliding door rattle

Post by grizgut »

I've got a bad rattle from the sliding door when driving, not the sliding windows as they are firm in the sliders.

On looking at it I can see that the upper guide block (square old type nylon block) is loose and 'wobbles' about where it's attached to the top of the retaining pin, as if the inside hole diameter is too large (worn?). Does anyone know if this is supposed to be loose or not? Ta muchly.

If you mean the rubber block I think it is supposed to have loads of clearance. My door rattled like a bitch so I undid the 3 allen screws on the bottom mounting plate and the bolt at the top (under a rubber cover) and moved the door in and out until it cleared both ends open and closed didnt stick out top or bottom and generally worked as it should. Rattle disappeared - its basically the door being out of alignment and causing the latch to have too much free movement....
