Anybody changed their engine over from the old metal cap to the Dalek cap style cooling?
I have metal, the overflow tank is useless as it never comes into play, I suspect maybe I have the wrong tank cap? reading about the Dalek approach seems to make sense and I'd like to upgrade to use that style tank and cap.
Is it just a case of replacing the tank or is there a different layout of hoses involved?

The dalek type cap has a screw thread, the metal type doesn't as far as I'm aware ?

Yes just done it on an 83 dg. If petrol you need the 83 to 85 tank and dalek cap and accompanying pipes and mounting bracket.

What's the problem with the old metal type? I have that setup on my DF - just ordered a new metal cap from Brickwerks for it.

Just finished this conversion and changed coolant after flushing the rad. The fan now cuts in a bit sooner and all in all it seems to run better and is not leaking anywhere.
