Howdy all, the manky carpet covered chipboard around my passenger/driver seat boxes is now coming unstuck is splitting and generally looks rubbish. Has anyone made new wood sections and covered them and if so, what did you use and have you got any pics (yep, i know i don't want much!).
I'm about to tackle this job too. My own van has some tacky hardboard pieces attached to the side and rear of each battery box. I wonder if any sort of wood covering is actually necessary. I'm planning to use Trim Velour, rather than Mega Stretch (just for the colour choice - both materials seem very similar). The raw metal of the battery boxes would look OK in my opinion if it was covered in the lining carpet directly. The only small issue I see is that the existing hardboard covers up some cable entry points into the battery boxes.

Cheers all - CJH, take a few pics of your progress as will I as it may be useful for any future members - i did have a look on-line whether there were any places out there that made them pre-cut just to save time, but couldn't find anything.
Dissc posted a picture of this area after stripping it out. If it wasn't for those cable entry points I reckon a nice covering of lining carpet directly over the metal would be fine. Once I've got mine stripped out I'll see what other options there are for the cables.

Aah, i see where your coming from CJH, without those cables it would be much easier and simpler to lay down a bit of carpet (it wouldn't be a T25 if there wasn't a problem ). I have another issue i may need to resolve in that i've just bought some swivel bases for both passenger and drivers seats and i may have a problem with the batteries being to large for them to fit in, so may need to try and get somekind of slimmer style battery or maybe even move the leisure battery somewhere else. The leisure battery is certainly too cumbersome but may get away with the main battery.

Cheers Matt, I think Newton Commercial do the carpet as well (although not sure if they sell separately) - will have a lookee on the Heritage site though:

I'm planning to get this area to match the headlining and side panels which I'm going to line with 'Wheat' coloured Trim Velour from MegaVanMats.
My van has the same light brown vinyl covering as you can see in the photo I linked to above. I was going to replace all that too, but I've decided to be 'sympathetic' to the original Viking spec, and just try to tone everything else to match. It's quite a nice warm colour, and is a bit different from the standard grey lining carpet colours.
