Subaru 'v' VW?

I'm still on the general lookout for a van myself and on the way home from work spotted one for sale by the side of the road, only had chance for a quick look but says its a 2l Subaru (1915 according to DVLA), it has all the usual rust areas as far as I could see, had a respray which would need sorting, alloy wheels, front spoiler, high top. Didn't get chance for any photos but any comments on a van converted to a Subaru? It also has an LG conversion but a note on the window says its not working. What would need looking out for in a van like this? If it sounds promising I may get further details. From the tax disk looks like its been off the road since end of March. What's good about the Subaru conversion and are some to be avoided? From the stickers in the window looks like its been to a few festivals bus rest etc. surprising what you see on the way home from work.

E D I T: just read the notes at the top Looks like the 2l is very thirsty and with a non working LPG this van could be an expensive option.

More power/speed, the mpg is probably about the same with it being a modern engine.

could have been installed by a monkey with 10 thumbs who cant weld and has an endless supply of scotchlocks

find out whose parts they used for the conversion and judge it onwards from there

Yes that's my worry! Not knowing enough about it and then struggling to find info on it could well make this one a no goer for me. Thanks, if I get chance I may ask for some info, may be useful to someone else if not me. Don't think it's going anywhere fast at the moment.

Mine is better on mpg and great to drive. You need to find out what conversion parts have been used. Rjes a about the best, especially the rjes bell housing rather than an adaptor plate. Go on the vw subaru hybrid club on Facebook and see if there is anyone near you that could go take a look with you.

The subaru engine is not keen on LPG, can suffer with valve seats more than the WBX , may need flashlube etc

Think I will give this a miss as it may be too much of a gamble ( I know most are anyway but there are levels of gamble) for me as a first van, it would need some bodywork as well so all in all one for me anyway to walk away from. If anyone else is interested pm me and I will point you in its direction. It's up for 3850 on a G plate.
