Hello,
I bought Albert in October 2011 and had to start work immediately. The engine, exhaust, clutch, thermostat, alternator and starter motor had to be replaced.
I've documented as much of the restoration as I could. I hope I'm posting this in the correct section.
The reason for my 80-90 name is clear from below photo.
I had a recon engine that had trouble from the start. It blew an oil core plug so had to drop engine to fix.
The engine then had a major leak from the cylinder head, that was discovered when I removed the exhaust.
It had to go back down south from Bolton on the rear of a low loader.
Once it was back I commenced work on the interior.
As you can see from the previous pictures, there was no insulation anywhere in the van. Time to fit this along with a rear seat belt as we've discovered my wife is pregnant.
New rock and roll bed bought.
The restoration has come to an abrupt end for now. Dislocated my shoulder and had an op on Tuesday to repair it. The surgeon reckons 12 weeks before I can do anything physical, hence having the time to post this thread.
I'm bored stupid and it's only been 3 days.
I'm itching to carry on work on the camper. It's been a steep learning curve but never had so much fun. We've even managed a few trips away, prior to ripping out interior of course.
I'm afraid the restoration has stopped due to my operation. I think it will be June before I can continue. My shoulder and arm is strapped up. Getting very frustrated being off work and unable to work on Albert. Thanks for asking though. At least it gives me time to plan how to build the units etc.
