Rust Stop Shop

Post by Dan_T25 »

Hi,

Does anyone have any experience of the products from Rust Stop Shop? Just wondering if Oxycon is comparable to Vactan?

http://www.ruststopshop.com/shop.cfm?#oxycon" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I was chatting to the owner at Busfest and the products seemed very impressive; especially the ACF50 which you put behind the seam.

Cheers,
Dan :ok

No experience of the retailer, but can certainly vouch for two of the product lines.

I have used ACF50 for many years, albeit in aerosol form, and can confirm that it protects well. Alloy motorcycle forks are notorious for pitting when exposed to winter salty roads. I rode my Triumph Thunderbird 900 through seven winters with no discolouration of the polished alloy when sprayed every couple of weeks with ACF50. I now use it to inject into the back of the seams on my T3 as it penetrates well. Not had it long enough to prove or disprove the effectiveness yet (two years so far).

Likewise, Corrosion Block grease, to my mind, is superior to coppaslip as it does not dry and go hard. I have not had any difficulty undoing any fastener that I have previously treated with Corrosion Block.

The idea of ACF50 with a syringe to apply to the seams appeals to me so that retailer can have an order. Not seen similar packing of the product previously.

Yes I like the idea of the syringe too; the ACF50 looks to be great value as I imagine you don't need much at all?

Very small amount needed. In fact, using the aerosol to do the m/c forks I was wiping most of it off whilst spreading it, But it only needs a nano thickness to be effective. With the seams, capillary action will spread it throughout the seam quite rapidly.

I can add another positive review for ACF50 in aerosol form.... I bought a brand new GSXR750 K7 back in 2007 and the bike shop preped the bike in it before I collected and gave me a spare can , I never saw any deterioration on any of the fasteners ( first things to go fury ) so its :ok from me.

Cheers all.

I have ordered some ACF50 this morning and some vactan. I was going to order the oxycon stuff but after seeing all the positive results with painting etc vactan seemed to have the edge. :ok
