I know this is a bit of a tech question but thought it better suited here. I have no radio in my bus and wanted to know what the original was so I can try get one to keep with my retro look. Trawled the net to no gain any help appreciated.

I'm not sure about VW commercial vehicles but back in the early - mid 1980s VW cars didn't have a radio/cassette player as standard. The speakers & wiring were fitted but there was just a blanking plate in the dash. The radio/cassette was an optional extra. This was common among the German vehicle manufacturers as Mercedes didn't fit a radio/cassette as standard in their cars at that time.

As the radio/radio cassette was an addon at that time (none of the VW/Audi range came with radio's fitted excepting perhaps the top models) the recommended range were Blaupunkt and Sony.
Blaupunkt: Cambridge/London/Boston from memory and 'face off Sony's' although if the customer had the dosh the fitment could have included 10 disc changes etc which were cutting edge audio technics of that era.
