It's not to bad a job if your handy with the spanners & the parts are cheap too (there's a thread somewhere about other parts you may as well change whilst you've got it apart - I'll have a look for you). However, if its an Elite replacement I'd be inclined to give Mick a call as it should still be covered under warranty & see what he suggests?
I've currently got a recent Elite engine in mine and the flywheel was included. My seal went big time on my old engine, chucking oil everywhere but this was due to play in the crankshaft & a bodge job in the past (I'm not suggesting that endfloat is what is wrong with yours - it's just confirmation that it was quite simple job to separate the gearbox & get to the gubbins to change the seal)
Thanks 300CE. That sounds not so bad. The distance is the problem here i reckon. I will speak to elite and see what they say before doing anything. I thought at the time is this a good idea essex to glasgow but i just hoped everything would be ok on the new one. Och well no good crying over spilled milk as they say. ( shoot they buggers im crying lol). I will post a wee update when i know what it is. Thanks
Hi Guys, Just a wee update. I did as was suggested and sent pics to elite. Due to the distance they have told me to take the van into a local garage and if the leak is from the flywheel oil seal they will pay the garage for the repair. I cant ask fairer than that. Credit where credit is due. The local guy is booked for a couple of weeks but at least there is a remedy in sight. Whoohoo Thanks for all your help and ideas.
Thanks itchyfeet i will keep that in mind and just hope clutch is not damaged as i believe she had a new one put in just befor i bought her. Fingers crossed lol . Finishing off headlight upgrade tomorrow. Had all the wiring and relays in place for ages but too scared to cut into existing wires in case it all went pear shaped Brave pill in the morning and the snips are coming out!!!
