16" rear wheel bearings....
Few questions chaps...
Assume they are the same as the 14" ?
Is the bearing carrier the same as the 2wd? Only ask because I have a few 2wd carriers, and I could get the new bearings pressed in and just change the carrier?
TIA

I could be wrong, it's been known...but I think the bearings are the same but carrier has 6 mounting holes so is different..( for the backplate that is)

Yeh the back plate mount is totally different, pretty substantial.

Re: 16" rear wheel bearings....
Cheers chaps..
Forgot to add, this one has cockbus' rear disc conversion, so that could mean the hubs have been fecked about with.. I'll ask Elvis if he can remember what changes had to be made by the Devonian wizard - seem to remember the previous owner had to send something back to devon to eventually get a deposit back...

Re: 16" rear wheel bearings....
The hubs would have had to be turned down to fit inside the disks, it makes no difference to the wheel bearings.

Bearings are the same, carriers are different as are backplates. FB may have fitted 14" carriers for the rear discs though...

And that would be bad....16" parts swapped in favour of meddled with 14" ones..anyone had any insurance issues with modified brakes? I bet they don't like that kinda thing much...

I was sleeping ...... its all been said

As an aside lots of folk seem to mix and match brake parts to improve their stopping distance. Unless someone knows a categorical reason why something is a poor idea the only thing that seems to matter here is that you a) pass your MOT b) come clean with your insurance company about whats been done. That way you give them no 'get out of jail' card if something does happen later on which they decide is relevant to events.
I have quite a list of mods to confess to but the insurance company has never made an issue over my SA brake kit, bull bar (now gone), winch, engine conversion, gearbox, springs, dampers etc
