For the past few months i have had an interrmittant "CV joint" type knock from the rear of my van. Worst when im accelerating round a roundabout in 2nd, occasionally noticeable in other gears, but as far as i recall only when going round a bend/juntion/roundigo. Only thing is, ive changed all the CV joints in the past month and the knocking is still there although not quite as severe. So im presuming summit with the diff??

gearbox mounting ?
Maybe .
I had a similar noise on an Austin 1100 years ago after replacing the CV joints, turned out to be a mounting.

I had this also grab hold of the shaft and see if it is sitting more one way than the other. The gaiters must be secured such that the shaft is central between the ends I had mine set too far towards the wheel and as I went round a corner the shaft rides out and hits the drive flange or rattles against it. The shaft needs to be able to move either way and inch but no further. Took me ages to work it out, went to see a mate who grabbed the shaft and wobbled it making said noise and he said 'what you mean that noise ' It took him 30 seconds to diagnose. That's why he's a mechanic and I'm not!!!

He shoots he scores!!!! 123 you were spot on. as soon as i read your post a lightbulb went off. I remember noting to myself some slight smearing on the end on the shaft when i changed the N/S, but couldnt think how said damage could of occurred. I didnt change the boots as they were perfectly good hence why the knocking persisted! have just rolled under and adjusted it by about half inch and perfect(touch wood) no more knockin atm. lets hope it stays that way
