Just drove back down to work noticed the alternator light on plled in to take alook seemed fine give it some revs it went out only briefly so when driving i keeped droping the clutch down to give some revs it went out some times for a short time and lasted longer other times gt me to work anyway 80 miles ps 1600 diesel cheers bri :ok

First thing to try would be a new regulator brush pack for the alternator. It's a simple DIY job, and they cost about a tenner from an auto electrical repair place. If that's not the problem, you can keep the new regulator as a spare.

Having said that, my truck had the same symptoms a couple of weeks ago, and that was due to burned out stator.........new alternator.
