Re: alternator light
Sounds like alternator isn't giving out enough juice. typically the brush pack replacement is the most likely fix. 2 screws and £15 to find out. Euro car parts or GSF have them or brickwerks if you can wait and dont mind the postage cost http://www.brickwerks.co.uk/index.php/v ... 3-all.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: alternator light
Also slippping belt (squeeling?) needs tensioning or replacing, or the alternator itself needs replacing. best to measure the actual output from the alternator with a voltmeter if the above doesn't work and post your findings before replacing it.

Re: alternator light
^^^^^ in the first instance measure the volts across the battery with the engine revs above idle^^^^ should be 13.8 - 14.2 volts, however, if all you see is battery standing voltage 12.5 - 12.6 or lower, then the alternator isn't charging.
Yes suspect the regulator brush pack but also check:
The little blue wire (Exciter) is attached to the rear of the alternator, that earths and live connections are intact and not broken, that the belt is tight and the alternator is turning...have a general look around and wiring as well.
