1991 Holdsworth Villa Waterpump location

Post by HedleyRoberts »

Hiya All. We're now proud owners of a 1991 2.1i Holdsworth Villa in Marsala Red.

I had 1984 waterboxer some years ago, and it's nice to be back in one. We're just had LPG fitted and (apart from a slow starting that's probably a ground issue or bush) she runs great and almost everything works :D However, not everything... A previous owner had disconnected the fresh water pump. The blue pipe seems to indicate that the pump was located under the R&R seat, but I can't locate any wiring :( . I have wiring from the foot switch that runs alongside the battery compartment to the back of the cupboards, but I don't know where it goes from there :? - I'd assume it would come out in the bed storage...but... no.
Can anyone confirm the location that holdsworth put the waterpump into the bed storage, or did it go somewhere else? It might help stop me pulling it all apart to find the wiring or save me from refitting wiring... which i may do anyway - it would just nice to know where it was originally...

Our '84 Holdsworth had the pump in the RnR seat.
Ours was mounted in the corner nearest the cupboards.

Mine does as well. ['86 model year van] The wiring for it runs underneath from the r/r seat to the cupboards and on to the foot switch. The cables are sheathed in a grey coloured cloth type material. I suggest you take a peek on the van's floor, inside the lower cupboard [underneath the cutlery tray section] and see if the wiring harness has been tucked away in there. Well worth having a working pump too, we use ours all the time.

And for what it's worth, we bunged a handful of Milton tablets into the water tank prior to filling it [ours too had been out of use for probably years] and repeated the process a few more times so that we knew the water could not be contaminated. I also replaced all the water pipes too.

Hope that is of use :ok

Doug.

Thanks for the responses! Much appreciated. We've just travelled across Europe in it, and would have benefitted from the tank working - it was 38 degrees and the van was full of bottles. Unfortunately we're now stuck outside Innsbruck with a completely failed alternator looking for a new or used one.

Finally back now after a new alternator and new coil (following a slightly dramatic small engine fire by the belgian motorway). We now have hot starting issues - ho hum.
