Driving up to Poole tomorrow. Any good just in case garages
Well Myrtle is nearly packed and tomorrow she drives to Poole from Plymouth. Should be an interesting drive with all the hills from Honiton to Dorchester.
Ive checked and double checked eberything 'seems ' to be running fine but just in case are there any T25 friendly garages in Poole that anyone knows of.
My grandaughter is really excited wil be he first sleep in Myrtle. Just praying its uneventful.

Just a few miles further and you could drop in and see us all at the New Forest Meet this weekend.
The worrying thing about middle age is knowing that you'll grow out of it.

Could give Simon a call at VW bus bits in Crossways (Dorset). He does interiors but will probably know of a local mechanic should you need one. 01305-854828

Re: Driving up to Poole tomorrow. Any good just in case garages
Arrived ok. Loads of traffic jams on A35 then she started hiccuping just before Dorchester having been stop start for about ten miles. So stopped at maccyds let her cool down and topped up her oil. She seems to running ok now but has been parked up since we arrived.
Thank you so much for the offers of assistance and local garages. Really reassuring, it's been a long time since myrtle had a longer road trip especially one as windy and hilly as A35 to Dorset. You lot rock
Now trying to work out if I risk driving back on bank holiday Monday with all the ensuring traffic jams on those hills or leave early Tuesday morning.
Decisions decisions.

I would avoid Kombi Klassics unless you have absolutely no other choice.
nice people, but very pricey, and over-complicate many issues, doing jobs that don`t need doing.

Got back but Myrtle is playing up (see post on Mechanical)
It was really reassuring to have those offers of support and local garages. You have no idea how much it meant to me and how nervous I was of doing that run.
I had a really relaxing time but tbh I wouldnt recommend the campsite. Talk about crowded and a 6 metre fire break betwen pitches try 3ft. Fortunately where II had parked I had space. They had overbooked electric pitches and non electric were also parking in electric. They borrowed my electric hook up to create an extension and had to buy about 8 brand new ones. The person who borrowed my hook up didnt return it to reception so I came away with a brand new hook up cable which was pretty good as mine although long was about ten years old.
They also had some very incontinent guests with upset stomachs, i felt so sorry for the guy cleaning the shower and toilet blocks, he was on the go from 9am just going from the mens to the ladies constantly,, in half an hour they were a revolting mess. Cant blame that on the campsite
Thanks everyone

Hmm - interested in your choice of location for a campsite.
Dorset has loads of excellent camp sites and really nice towns and villages, but Poole isn't very high up in my list of the best - in fact, to be honest, it's not on there at all.
Unless you are particularly interested in Pottery, Speedway, or the History of Scouting, I don't see the attraction.
Please enlighten me.
For future reference, there is a really helpful garage in the same road as Kombi Klassics in Wareham. - BDR Motors. Really helpful guys and lots of experience. They used to service my old Landrover, and nothing was ever too much trouble. http://www.carrepairwareham.co.uk/

Kombi Klassics without a doubt.
My clutch went in Dorset a few years back and they fitted me in for a repair even though they were stacked out with work.
Did an excellent job at a fair price too.

A1 Winchester my choice of location was for personal reasons. I take my grandaughter back to her Daddy at the end of the Summer holidays but due to having an issue with my health and energy levels I cant quite make it to her home. Therefore her Daddy meets me there.
Actually you may have only found the pottery, speedway and the history of scouting; I have however have found Studland point and the lovely safe beaches there, Corfe Castle and other National Trust properties, Upton Park with its lovely gardens, petanque, art gallery and exhibitions and wildlife, the walled town of Wareham and swimming in the river or boating on it. I think every location can have its good and bad points.
Personally I prefer nights out on Dartmoor or sites by or overlooking the sea in my beautiful home county of Devon ora going into Cornwall to experience similar, but there are times you combine the pleasures of your VW with the practicalities of life.
I hope I may have enlightened you to other places apart from those you mentioned that you may find pleasure in visiting.
To those who gave me so many tips for asssistance and even personal offers of assistance I found it very reassuring. Its lovely knowing that wherever we go in our vans that somewhere somewhere on here may know someone who can assist in the case of a dreaded malfunction.

Re: Driving up to Poole tomorrow. Any good just in case garages
Glad everything went ok and you had a good time. We really enjoyed Pool; interesting history trail around the old part, good picnic gawping at the Sunseeker boats.
Soss if I'm telling you something you might know, but I get the idea that you are new to this camper van lark. We pretty well always stop at Caravan Club CL sites. They have no more than 5 'outfits' on a site and usually less. Pretty cheap and most have 'leccy if you need it. Obviously you need to be a member but we use our van A LOT so it works out for us. E.g. we stopped on two sites this Summer (in the school hols) one in the middle of the Peak District and one overlooking Runswick Bay, beautiful sites both and we were the ONLY ones there. Cost was £3 to £4 a night. We wild camp too, but how much petrol do you use driving around looking for a sleepy spot?
