It was a bit dark ?????

Post by scylla »

So coming home tonight I suddenly realised it was a bit dark where the headlights should be illuminating the road ahead. So jumped out of trusty rusty and had a look at the headlights. I was driving with just the sidelights on. The main beam doesn't work suddenly and the only way to get high beam is to keep holding the stalk up on your hands. It wouldn't stay on. So wonderful people out there in van land anyone got any ideas. When I go through the switch positions only get side lighting nowt else. Jus as we got one thing sorted yep up pops another weirdy gremlin. I have feeling the switch may be slightly kaput.
Thanks in advance of help xxx
Cheers Scylla :?

Most likely either the ignition switch or the light switch is at fault.
With the ignition switched on check you have battery voltage at the black/yellow cable at the light switch,
No voltage the ignition switch is at fault.
If you have voltage then with the ignition and head lights switched on check for battery voltage at the white/black cable at the light switch.
No voltage then the light switch is at fault.
