Newbie and servicing

Post by biker1981 »

I've just got my 1982 Aircooled camper, I believe it's a 2.0l

I have bought the oil and watched the video on how to oil change it, what else do I need to do? Is there an air filter?

Should I out new plugs in.... I have never worked on an Aircooled engine before

You'll want to change the oil filter for sure. The air filter sits in the box inbetween the carbs, there's 5 clips that need undoing before lifting it off and changing. Plugs should probably be done but take a look at the condition of them that should give you an idea of how the engine is running (e.g. too lean/rich)

If the oil sump plug is rounded off and you have to drain via the strainer make sure you have the gaskets and do not over torque when done, trust me on this
