Post by hobart71uk »

Hi all, going to do an oil change on my 2.1DJ and was wondering if anyone could recommend a decent 15w40 engine oil? :)

VW recommend Platinum 5w/40 fully synthetic, Carlube equivilant is Triple R, must say VW 505 00, most are 502 00 as well
I've been very impressed with it's performance
I couldn't find a decent 15W/40 mineral since Quantum stopped supplying it, it seems to be made out of recycled oil these days and prone to carbonisation and poor lubrocity in my experience

Decent 15W40 engine oil is still available.
