East London - any recommendations for garages locally?

Post by elfgirl »

Hi, we're in East London (Forest Gate)and have owned our van for 6 months now. Thanks to this forum ;-), Haynes, friends and one call to the breakdown service, we haven't had to use a garage yet:-) . The van is a high top, so won't get under the arches in the place I go with the other old cars. The MOT is due middle of next month and whilst, fingers crossed, she seems fairly sound, there's bound to be something that needs doing. Any recommendations appreciated. Thanks

We've had a few jobs done on our camper by Westgate Motors in London Fields and have had no problems so far. They understand the vehicles, and their costs are very reasonable provided you're not in a big rush i.e. they'll fit you in around other more urgent work, but even then they'll typically turn work around in about a week. They also do MOTs, and our hi-top will fit in their arches.

Hi,

Its a bit of a trip south of the river, but this lot are great:

http://www.thetestcentre.co.uk/station_ ... p?pid=2836" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Had three van MOTs with them. Bays are big enough for a van, clean and tidy. Last time should have failed on emissions (very high!), but thanks to the understanding tester it was all fine. Happy to let you have a good poke round underneath whilst its on the ramp too which is good.

Its worth keeping an eye on any test center whilst they put it up on the ramps just to remind them if ist getting a bit close to the ceiling!!

Cheers,

Alex

Thanks. And a pick up service too! But then we wouldn't get the chance to poke around underneath.
