gearbox oil
hi all just changed gearbox fitted 3h 5 speed in 1.6 diesal all workinkg good but got the 1st to 2nd cold change problem aok when warm filled with ep80w90 gl5 do i need to change to gl4 all help very much appreciated

You should use Comma SX 75w/90 GL4 about 4.5 litres of it but maybe only 4 will go in.

the gl5 maybe ok but may have the additive that our moly coated synchro rings doesn't much like
what was the drain plug magnet like when you changed the oil ?

ye took 4.5 litres of oil gearbox on level ground and def empty in van so will def change to 4 cheers fellows

hi aidan plug furry silver slivers of metal no solid bits thinking this ok as said only problem when cold going from 1st to second and linkage bit of a hit and miss but seems ok gentle changes used to old foden lorry regardsAidan wrote:4 litres gl4
