Door fell off

Post by Sleedale »

Well, got in, drove to work, opened the sliding door..............

And it fell off      :?

Shouldn't have outghta have ignored that grinding noise a few days ago which I stupidly thought meant the rollers needed greasing :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl

So, very nice fix it man at work put the door back on (but I wouldn't try opening it), rang the nice fix it properly man at the garage who will look at it tomorrow and might have the bit it needs, looked on Brickwerks web site, found what I think it is (sliding door roller) whose description simply reads........

The one that collapses.

Perfect

Hopefully, nice mechanix man can swap a part from a van he's just bought, I can order a brand new one, and after we've been away NEXT BLUMMIN WEEK we can have a whole new roller fitted.

Lovely vans these are :ok

Mark, I'm sure I'll laugh loud and long - once the blumin thing is fixed! We have a day, tomorrow, cos our man at the garage is off the the VW show at Harewood from Thursday over the weekend, and we are booked in a site in Shropshire on Monday

It was a bit bizarre though, open the door, then door very poorly looking, then go outside van, try to wrestle with it but it was just a bit big and heavy for me to manoeuvre
I had visions of hefting the door into the van a driving around with extra air conditioning

Got the part from Brickwerks today, thanks guys for excellent service as usual, and I even bought the right one, the old one had indeed collapsed (well rusted into two parts) and thanks to some excellent help from Thorgills and my OH Gary, door is now back in place, rolling open and shut as it should with only a few scrapes to the paintwork en route to being fixed, so, phew, I now really AM Cinderella, and I SHALL go camping on Monday.

Thanks Thorgills for your invaluable help and The Boy for playing Pi on the stylophone, and mum for keeping an eye on things in general, and sharing the red wine, lovely evening chaps :ok
