noisy tappet

Post by bluedirtydigit »

Hi guy's
Decided to take my van for a spin today first time I have used it for a couple of weeks I have a rattle from one of the tappets is this usual when they have been standing? I must admit I only drove it about 2 miles and it didn't quieten down at all I thought perhaps it needed the oil to circulate a bit but I did not want to push my luck and cause some damage could there be an air lock? Any help in where to start would be appreciated. Mike

Take it out for a good quick longish run. They drain down after a while if not used. If it persists, do an oil change with correct grade - 15w40 mineral.

Yesterday, I noticed that my friend's van was 'tappety' as she drove off. A couple of hours later, she called from the M3 hard shoulder asking me why there was a buzzing from the dash!!!!
Why would the glass be anything other than half full?
