I had noisy tappets a while back and after a long drive once they settled down. I explained this to a mechanic who specialises in t25's and he suggested that after a long run change the oil and even use a flush like wynns.
Having read lots on wynns and engine flushes on here I am scared off doing it.
I get that after a good blast, the oil has had a chance to circulate into all the nooks and maybe even dislodge gummed up sludge which sits around the tappets. I have just returned from a long drive yesterday(1400 miles in 2 weeks) so should I change it soon?
As per advice on here I considered changing it, running for a few miles then changing it again?

From what I have read oil flushes are not reccomended for old high mileage engines as thay can dislodge slit deposits and move them to places you don't want.
Persoanlly i'd just change the oil and filter regularly, say every 3000 miles or 6 months.
Noisy tappets can happen if you use semi synth oil or leave the van without using it for long periods.
Mine does it only if I start it and turn it off before letting it get warm.
Just give it a good hard drive with pleny of revs and it will clear as you have seen, it's common in these engines don't worry about it.
