T25 push rod tube oil leak! Help!!

Post by Jasonsinclair »

I have a t25 2.0 ltr petrol air cooled. Only recently purchased this but notice there was a small oil leak, after getting someone to look at it they informed it was leaking in 8 places (barley leaking at all) enough to great blobs of oil on each end of the four push rod tubes. The guy I got to look at it said they looked like they've only recently been replaced and he couldn't understand for why they are leaking.

If anyone has come across this problem any help would be great appreciated.

Thanks

Give the engine a good clean off and then find out where the leak is starting from. One leak soon blows oil all over the engine and oil starts dripping off every low point. One leak can look like twenty.

Hopefully you'll find the leak is actually the rocker cover. A new gasket for that costs a couple of quid and takes five minutes to fit. If it is one of the push-rod tubes, whoever fitted them probably nipped one of the seals. A bit more expensive and difficult to fit but still pretty straight forward.

If every tube is leaking then previous owner was probably a muppet and you should be worrying about what other repairs he / she has cocked up.

Thanks for the reply. Gonna get under it over the weekend and see if I can see. The guy that had a look at it said its defiantly hot coming from the rocker cover which surprised him.

Ill have a look and report back.

Thanks

water boxer needs the heads off to change the pushrod tubes, Aircooled does not.
