Lower grill removal

I tried to remove the lower grill on my van tonight to give it a coat of paint, the Haynes manual say's remove the five screws my van does not have any screws it has flat rectangle tabs which pop in the holes and then expand to hold them in place is there a way to remove these or do you have to break them and replace them when you put it back does anybody know? if they should be screws I can snap them off and renew with screws but I have known Haynes to give the wrong information in the past so I thought I would ask.

youve maybe got them with a black plastic pin inserted to expand the item, if so then use a pin punch and tap them straight through

Definitely no pin in the center that was the first thing I tried, they are a bit like door panel clips but a lot tougher.

does the little rectangle have a hole? mine have a screw in the hole to expand the clip, couple used to have a pin but it stuck out so a pair of needle nose could pull it out.

You can get replacements if you snap them to get out...this is the replacements i got last year (probably from JK) Come with pin (assume for 1st use) and a screw to re-use the clip

bin the plaggy pin and justr use the screw, start the screw and take care not to expand the fitting and you can then use screw to locate it easier,,

I replaced the fittings on our lower grille with the ones shown - and the bloody clips just won't stay still in the hole. I have to hold 'em stationary with the tip of needle-nose pliers or a small screwdriver. It all gets a bit sweary if ever I need to remove the grille.

Thanks guy's no it's not those I think this is something that has been added at some time that's not the correct part, I think I will snap them off and use screws it will be easier next time I want to take the grill off. Thanks for the input.
