Offside front wheel arch
It's a long shot, but I don't suppose anyone has a scrapper lying around that happens to have a o/s/f arch that has a good return to the B post seam? The rear part of my wheel arch has been removed (cut diagonally through the fuel filler location) to clean up the seam and do other repairs to the rear of the 'tub', and is apparently not good enough to go back. From what I hear the Klokkerholm panels (also sold by Schofields) are so bad that I'm not expecting one of these to help, and it seems a bit excessive to spend £200 on a whole genuine arch (and pay for the work to fit it), when the rest of it is pretty much OK.
My budget is getting severely battered - can anyone help please?

Re: Offside front wheel arch
I did mine on the nearside with a Klokkersh*te panel - I just cut the piece I needed out of it. Sounds like I made the same diagonal cut but on the other side. The panel was thin and distorted but as luck would have it not to bad for the corner and seam. (It also had a couple of dings in it that had been badly welded over then the paper label affixed on top!) If there were any other choice I would have tried it but had to get it done. It is doable with Klokker but they are thin and poor quality.

Re: Offside front wheel arch
That's impressive mm. The guy doing mine said that he could do something similar but it'll take so long that I'll end up spending more than buying a new arch. Plus a new genuine arch'll sort out a few other bits that's otherwise justify a bit of tickling. Klokker doesn't sound worth the effort so gonna bite the bullet and go for the OEM I think. After this experience I've promised myself a welder - I don't have the time at the moment, but am gonna have to find it in future!!

Re: Offside front wheel arch
put up some picks of yours and the problem area ??
if your fella is not able to do the repair correctly then i cant really advise,
as for time, well its all part of a package so not easy to define,
if you grab a genuine arch then that would be the way to go, but, what is the B post like? as i said take some picks and post up

Re: Offside front wheel arch
Hi MM
I don't yet have pics with the part of the wheel arch removed but the pics with arches still in place once I'd scoured away all the underseal are here:
o/s top:

o/s bottom:

I didn't think it looked too bad, but can understand if the returns didn't scrub up too well!
It feels like the rust levels are generally not that bad, but as there's a little bit in quite a few places it's still taking a while to get rid of. I had van painted 5 years ago and it has already come back (despite living under a car port) so would like to get rid of it properly this time

Re: Offside front wheel arch
well that will have to come off and inspect whats left of the inner ,blast it and go from there, new metal usually, the lip of the arch/wing will also disintegrate so back to making it or source a new one.rust is present in every single 25 out there, sometimes not visible but its only time, like wise it will come back as there is only so much you can remove, but document the work and it will help you and others and also should you sell,

Re: Offside front wheel arch
I'm not sure if it's a trick of the light, but it looks to me as if the bottom few inches of the B-post front face are missing. Has someone already cut this out with it in-situ, or was it like that already?

Hi James
Yes, it's work in progress so he had already removed the crusty bits of the bottom of the b pillar and wheel arch.
MM - I've learned my lesson once before - my 2k paintjob 5 years ago had an amazing finish but rust was coming back already so want to get it all out properpy this time. Am trying to get the guy to take pics for the reasons you say (have even left him an old camera) but to be fair to him he seems focused on doing the job (properly I think) and things like pics don't seem to be at forefront of his mind! I hope to get up there in next day or so to see for myself, but suspect i'll get pics of the repaired b pillar by then.

Re: Offside front wheel arch
picks take seconds literally, so ZERO excuse .not suggesting a fall out etc and its not a critism of his work but so often vans appear on here fresh from paint with assurances that they were rust free. !! yeah!,2k wont get a resto it will get a coat of paint and a little bit of work often negated by the cost of a set of new seals all round if included.
anyhows onwards with it and we look forward to updates, you doing it same colour again
