OEM Part No. 2.1 DJ fuel injector?

Post by hobart71uk »

Hi all, does anyone know the OEM part number for a 1990 2.1 DJ fuel injector and where I could source one? I have found a place in the US of A that sells remanufactured injectors part number 0280150206 http://www.injectorswhse.com/injectors.php?id=MP5132" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; is this the correct one?

Also, I am still having what feels like the dreaded syndrome! plus loss of power under load and what sounds like a loud pop / misfire in the air throttle inlet hose (between AFM and air throttle housing). New AFM, plugs, HT leads and air filter fitted. Timing set at 5 degrees BTDC for standard unleaded. Engine bay earths cleaned and remade, ignition coil connections cleaned up. New fuel filter and fuel tank also fitted and new dizzy cap and rotor arm too. Any ideas as I am fast running out of hair and dummies!! I am thinking possibly ignition amp or fuel regulator? Many thanks in advance.

I've got some used injectors that can be cleaned and tested if required - they go to the place in Hull that does ultrasonic cleaning, they test them as they are for flow pattern and rate, then strip them of th epintle covers, old hose and basket filter, ultrasonically clean them then reassemble with new fittings and retest so they come back to you with a print out showing their efficiency
injectors are obsolete from classic parts individually so bosch would be next port for new ones
there are a few kits of inectors left at classic but showing low availability so probably less than 10 sets left
DJ issues tend to be ignition amp and but could be timing issue with vacuum unit on dizzy perhaps/air leak in pipes to it or unit sticking or no vacuum from plenum chamber spigot, ream out the little fella with a small screwdriver/drill bit and have a suck on the pipes and observe action of vacuum unit, I have spare DJ ECUs and dizzy here

Cheers Aidan for your advice. Will have a look at the vacuum and recheck timing and replace the ignition amp and see what happens! Its good to know that you can get injectors sorted too, that was a bit of a worry of mine!
One other thing I forgot to mention, the throttle housing is a bit worn and I cant set the correct tolerance for tps switch (0.6 to 1.0 mm) so have had to set it a bit beyond that for switch to close and open. Could this have anything to do with it? and can you get new or replacement air throttle housing? Thanks in advance

I've had injectors done by those guys before - and they did an excellent job. I've got to get round to sending 'em the ones off our DJ. I did ask a bloke on another forum who does injector refurb, but turns out relatively few places do "our" type with the short hose on the end.

I'd imagine that injectors which've been sat on a shelf for ~20yrs+ would not be that great anyway. I'd certainly want to replace the rubbers.

So long as it clicks - reliably and consistently - as you start to crack the throttle open, both engine running and off, I'd not get too excited about the precise gap. I've still not figured out what the wide-open click of the switch actually affects on a DJ.
