Hi,

I am replacing my exhaust. I have saved the heat exchangers but have replaced all the rest. I am struggling to get the heat transfer pod bolts off, the ones where the pod joins to the head. I have done the left hand side one easy. The left hand side is really tricky to get to.

Do you have to take off the tinware in the engine compartment to get to the nuts? If so which bits and in which order?

Any advice, hints, gratefully recieved. :D

Hi,

Apologies, i rather rushed my last post. :oops:

I am trying to remove the right hand side heat transfer pod. The two NUTS on the head studs are badly rusted and very difficult to access. I still have the heat exchangers on.

Is it possible to access the NUTS by removing the tinware in the engine compartment and getting to them that way? What bits of tinware do i need to remove?

Is there another way to access the two nuts without removing the heat exchanger? There are a lot of ducts in the way and the top nut is very hard to access (cant even really see it) The left hand side NUTS were easy to access and remove with the heat exchanger on.

hi,

Just in case anyone comes across this thread and is in a similar posistion....the answer is...remove ur alternator. Quite simple, two bolts and pull it out. This gives you access to the corner tinware section below it. Remove the tinware screws...one is hard to spot...near the wheel that fan belt goes on. You have to remove rubber skirt around tinware, and the heat reflector that sits under tinware, above silencer box.

You can now pull tinware out of the way and get access to the two heat transfer pod (rear heat exchangers) NUTS from above. Much easier. :ok
