Was too hot - now a bit cold!

Post by chuggers72 »

OK - so my temp gauge is usually bang around the led (12 oclock). Had a good 250 mile trip to the Isle of Wight sweet as a nut. On the return journey all of a sudden its now running at about 10 oclock - even after major hills its nowhere near the led. Why would this be - maybe Im worrying over nothing but I had year of overheating issues and I've become 'needle paranoid'!! Interestingly, the fan seems to come on a little earlier than before suggesting it could be a gauge issue - but why would this happen?

More likely poor wiring at the switch (corroded terminals etc) or the switch itself.

Cheers Martin - Would that be the switch in the thermostat housing?

Not sure about yours mate, but push in switches are in the thermostat housing, left rear as you look from the rear. My connections have been bodged at some point and I had similar issues to you. I repaired the wiring and terminals and it now reads fine.
