4 speed gearstick
hi can anyone tell me if you can buy a refurb kit for a gear selector on a 1990 T25 4 speed box or do I need to buy the gear stick as well ? As mine seems to sometimes go into reverse instead of first

Here's the repair kit:

If the spring has failed, it would give the symptom you describe. Can you still feel the spring pressure when you push it down, like you were trying to select Reverse?
This is the Wiki for fitting the kit:

hi red I am looking for 1st and it slips in to reverse and other times it will go in to 1st but seems to be in the wrong place
Re: 4 speed gearstick
Have a look at the Wiki. The only thing that stops you selecting reverse when you want first is a stop of the side of the housing. When you push down on the gearstick, against spring pressure, it allows the lower part of the gearstick to move under the stop so that you can select reverse.

In this diagram, if the spring [12] is broken, or the plastic part [39] has broken up, then there is nothing to stop you selecting Reverse when you want First, or vice versa. Make sense? Those bits are included in the kit.
If you lift up the rubber gaiter inside the cab, you should be able to see if those bits are not right (once you've wiped the grease off).
