Tow Bar Fitting Advise Needed
Hi all,
I have bought a tow bar from Just Kampers (made by Watling Engineering) and asked my local garage to fit it and do the electrics also. The van came back without the tow bar fitted and the garage saying it wouldn't fit, so I'm looking for a little advise;
1. My van was imported from USA would this make a difference?
2. The garage says the brackets at the ends of the tow bar wouldn't line up with the chassis but when I read the instructions it talks about fitting the brackets to the bumper arms. If I have read the instructions right all I need to do is remove the bumper (metal version) and the tow bar brackets fit on to the bumper arms, is this correct?
3. Does anyone have pictures of the same tow bar fitted?
4. Finally, anyone close to Driffield East Yorkshire fitted one before and would be prepared to help me out (beer tokens may be exchanged)
Grateful for any help offered, could do with it sorting before we go on holiday to Cornwall in a couple of weeks.
Cheers,
Colin

"too girly"? Or just a case of swan-neck versus two-bolt? I'd have thought you'd need two-bolt for that bike rack, but the Westy bar on ours is a swan-neck (German bars tend to be).
What's the max rated nose weight on each of the two?

Hi,
This is what I bought from Just Kampers;

This is a picture of the tow bar;

The paint shop in Driffield is Norman Ellis on Adelphi Street. Norman has retired now and it is still there but run by a guy called Steve who just happens to have a 1989 Westfalia pop top

How long is it since you lived in Driffield?
Cheers,
Colin

Oh dear
Think I am going to send it back.
Can anyone suggest a towbar and where I can buy it from?

In situations like this, the supplier should be made to pay for all the time spent messing around and then for time spent arranging to return it !! Then maybe "they" (JK) would be a bit more careful about what they sell !
