Hi,
I've been trying to fix my dash cluster but I think it's beaten me. There's some fairly extensive corrosion on the PCB right where it connects and it's also de-laminated in parts. I managed to revive the fuel gauge but most of the other instruments are dead. So, I've been looking for complete dash clusters for a replacement and I seem to have found one, except it's a rev-counter version and my current one isn't. However It look to me as though my dash cluster has been swapped around several times and there is a chopped of feed from the PCB to where the rev-counter would connect.
Is there any way to tell for sure if my van has a feed (from the rotor arm?) for a counter before I buy the dash cluster, or alternatively, if I turn out not to have a feed for the revs, can I fit one?
Thanks,
Dom

Re: Dash upgrade - rev counter
Probably a good idea to ask in Tech - Electrical as just about everyone sycnro has gone derv, so they won't understand what you're on about
But seriously...if you've got a light green wire at the pcb flat connector end then it's got a tacho feed, direct from the LT side of the coil (same colour)
I'd say that if you've got the offer of a tacho dash, take it as they are just getting harder and harder to find, never mind the asking price!

Nice one, thanks. I'll look for the light green wire. From memory I think the PCB connector was all wired up with no gaps so fingers crossed.
I heard these were getting scarce, I wasn't holding out much hope of finding what I needed but looks like I got lucky this time, and the asking price is pretty reasonable. Hope the seller isn't reading this forum...
All the best,

Syncro Andy is doing a very nice passat dash conversion at the minute. May be worth a look for you.
