We have not driven our van for 18 months.

Post by Spude »

We have a T25 1900 on a B reg. My partner and i got married last year and moved to Barcelona.Consequently the van did not get a run out last year. I have had new plugs, Oil, Battery, rotary arm,and starter motor put on. We have managed to get her up and running but is blowing out a fair bit of smoke. Is there anychance this is down to her inactivity.Hoping to drive back to Barcelona through France if all goes well

It will need a few good runs to check your levels before I would venture abroad with it.

Hi Ian thanks for the reply. Im slowing sinking into to despair as the more i read. There seems to be alot blueish smoke and from what i have read that doesnt sound to good. I am going to give it a good run and see if the problem persist

before you give it a good run take the spark plugs out and with a can of spray oil and the straw spray some oil in the bores and leave it a day or two. Possible you have stuck ring, should have done that before you started it really.

Obviously the extra oil will smoke more initially when you do start it.

I have been reading online that it could possibly be the piston rings or a stuck piston. Is there a tell- tale sign for this apart from the blue smoke from the exhaust e.g. noises, volume of smoke etc.

Check the condition of the plugs, one at a time, if one appears black and oily, more than likely that is the offending cylinder. Hope you get it sorted. I would be tempted to give the brakes a good checking over before you do any long runs and change the brake fluid . Daz
