Reverse light switch in Aircooled gearbox?
I have a Aircooled 4 speed box in my 1990 bus. but the revering lights don't work as there is no switch in the gearbox. where Should it be fitted? there's a plug in the nose cone on the n/s, should it go in here? thanks Steve

Have a look here at the gearbox diagram (which I assume are Aircooled boxes seeing as it's for a 1980 van) and see if anything looks familiar
You have to register to see part numbers

part 39a?

Depends on what Aircooled box you have fitted a T25 box with a side entry selector linkage the switch is here.

Bay gearbox with front selector entry it is in the front cover next to the selector shaft.

Re: Reverse light switch in Aircooled gearbox?
Looking at the vagcat diagram it lists a switch or a bung in that position
Bung is 113301229A
Switch is 251941521
both use a seal too N0138165 (basically a 18mm washer)
Switch is £15 at heritage but reduced to £9 at JK
However brickwerks seem to sell it for £5.46......well it looks the same and is M18

Also fitted as reverse light switches on the early DK code gearboxes
Re: Reverse light switch in Aircooled gearbox?
Brilliant. thanks guys thats awesome, exactly what I needed to know.yes part 39a looks right. The box is a side entry gear selector, code DK i think. I'll order a switch now. thanks again. Steve
