When you say cool down. How hot did it get?
Before you switched off how was it running? Noisy?
Any leaks underneath. black smoke from the exhaust?
Have you dipped the sump? Is there any oil in it?
The oil light switch is set at a very low pressure so if it is correct then the engine will destroy itself in no time. I've had lights come on and just pulled the spade off the switch. The light goes out...engine runs normally............I am not suggesting you do this just yet though.

Oil light on shows low pressure , check level and take it from there , if level looks ok check wiring to oil senders.

Correct ... we need to know if the low oil pressure buzzer came on ? Now it's cold check the lever NOT while it's still hot as the oil hides in the corners and you end up over-filling it. Was it quiet or rattling ? Is there any visible oil on the tailgate ? When was the oil changed ? What oil and filter are used ?

Hi battery ran out. Been towed to recovery service garage overnight to be taken to garage in morning. Temp showed no overheating, no noise except buzzer going, oil and oil filter changed before trip with genuine parts. Have checked oil level fine and water. There r some splatters of oil on tailgate, but not much. We r water cooled. Thanks for offer of workshop may call u. Goodnight from garage forecourt, all part of the t25 adventure!

Did your light come on when slowing down? after long hot motorway runs ours used to do this in hot weather as engine was hot,oil was thin. but we drove it like this for ages. It turned out the engine had a bit to much cranshaft endfloat causing a drop in oil pressure , some one else had already fitted a high flow oil pump to try and "fix" it, but its a good temporary fix if this is your problem too.
