dash panel mount USB & Ciggy port

Post by badgerfax »

I'm thinking of fitting a panel mounted USB port & Ciggy Skt wired off the Westy DIN skt that's already there as I'm currently using one of those Chinese 3 way ciggy socket on a lead and its a load of cr@p

I have been having a scout about on the net but the only one that I can find so far is on Australian ebay and is $60

I'm sure I have seen a thread on here where someone posted up a pic of the sort of thing i'm after.

Any Ideas? Has anyone else done this.

Or fit a normal ciggy lighter, then put something like this into it?

Two USBs from one ciggy socket - for 99p with free postage? What's not to like? If you want a first-hand report of the quality etc, wait until the one I've just ordered arrives...

there was someone on ebay a while ago doing a 3 socket, with USB. They were metal with VW logo on them, not seen them on for a while, but they do pop back up. About £25 posted.

I got the 3 socket with USB job, I'm just trying to find the pics the now, bear with me....... Damn, it's not in my photobucket account and I don't have my hard drive with me.

Suffice to say, it fits nice and looks good and does the job. I mounted mine on the front of the dash tidy, had to modify the cup holders so it would fit but that was a personal choice.

It will be too late to post up pics when I get home as that won't be for another 2 weeks, sorry.

Sounds like just the thing i'm after.

Liked the Auzzy one as it looked neat and USB was rated at 2 Amps

I have two sets on the dash - one that comes from starter battery and only live when ignition is on (perfect for the dash cam or things you only use on the move), and another powered from the leisure. I opted for two-sided tape. Can't bring myself to cut or drill dash.
