Komet fridge and waterpump wiring

Post by gil90 »

I'm trying to rewire my Autohomes Komet, I took pics when I took it all apart but can I find em now? nope. I'm looking at the 3 way electrolux fridge, the mains I left in so thats ok there's a big blak cable with a black and red wire comin from the relay beside the battery which I think goes to the three way switch, on the right of the fridge. also theres a smaller cable with a red and black wire, where does that go?
The water pump?
anyone got any pics, i'm not much good at wiring diagrams!

Easier to write in felt tip pen on the item as you remove - lose the item and you don't need the diagram.

If you mean all the wiring in the access hatch behind the driver's seat then yes, the twin cable from the relay goes to the fridge. The other cable will go to the Zig unit probably or may be the feed for a propex if you have one. If you don't have a Zig fitted it will go to the interior of the unit where the Zig would go if it were fitted and where all the feeds to the lights, fridge gas ignition and water pump also reside. Take the little wooden shelf section off and have a gander behind - it's all there

I know you're not keen on wiring diagrams but there are some fairly clear ones at http://www.autohomes.vwt25camper.info/h ... ownlo.html which should show what you're looking for.

Incidentally, the wires to the waterpump footswitch on my Kamper are twin red.

Good luck!

There appears to be no sense in the wiring on my Komet. In the fridge space there is a 3 wire mains lead wired to the right top. Two wire heavy gauge red and black from relay at battery, this goes to the 3 pos switch and a light gauge twin red and black which goes to the left top of the fridge if you have electronic ignition. (I replaced my broken electronic ign with a piezo push button (£50 for an electronic ign unit or £2.50 for a piezo unit!!) The pump wiring was wired very strangely with grey twin to the switch and yellow and white to the pump wiring on top of the tank. Tracing the wiring back to the zig unit I was alarmed to find that the positive was infact black. The negative was single grey!! I reckon they used up their leftovers on mine.

Same as mine. How would you wire the fridge then? It's up to them what colours/type of wiring they use although I agree that a red/black convention for +ve and -ve is conventional but not carved in stone as that creates confusion where multiple circuits are run collectively; very hard to trace. Look at all the colours used in the vehicle wiring harnesses.

I had this problem with my 1970 fiat spider - the wiring bore no resemblance to the diagram so slowly but surely I replaced everything to colour match the diagram. I used vehicle wiring products online. Not sure it was a great idea to follow a 1970 fiat wiring diagram but there you go :?
