Sat Nav Head/ No ACC ON

Post by 2Kan »

I have had a good few of days searching the various forums and google search's but i cant find a definite answer to my issue. The issue seems to be my T3 westy 87 ignition barrel not having an ACC ON position which is requires by my satnav head unit, which is a pioneer avic x3.

The problem im facing is the head unit remains on even with the detachable anti theft face removed. I can still hear the fans running even when the key is out. The way it is set it at the moment is i don't need the key in the ignition to have it on.

i have join the red single wire to the yellow power wire. I was hoping that the removal of the face would turn the dam thing off and i could use it. I release that its best to run to from the leisure battery but for now i just want to make sure i can turn it off with the units memory not being effected.

I can across the gowesty audio toggle switch http://www.gowesty.com/ec_view_details.php?id=23361" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
and wasn't sure if this could be used to turn the unit off with the issue i have with the ACC ON requirement and not drain the battery, which i expect would happen if i left it as is.

Maybe i am missing an obvious solution with is probably the case, hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.
Cheers

The Acc-on ignition key position is one which allows you to listen to your stereo with the key in but ignition off for instance if you were parked up somewhere but still wanted it to switch off when you remove key. As you have noticed there is no such position on the T25. Some makes of car have them - others not.

Can you not fit some kind of toggle switch between your leisure battery and the Acc-on cable to the stereo. Then you can use that to turn on and off the supply to the stereo so you don't need the ignition on to listen to it when you're camping. You can leave the wire that feeds the memory connected to permanent 12V to keep it from losing settings.

Thank you for the replays.

I have re-read the manual again and it doesnt seem to have an auto power off or any reference to that type of feature.

I think the only solution maybe a toggle switch setup.

Cheers

Hi,

You could always just take a feed off a fuse that is only live with the ignition on, i.e. the wipers, that way the stereo will power off when the ignition is turned off :ok

hope this helps Neil
