anyone know what the best product is to remove tree sap and road film from paint work ? i`ve tried wash n wax without much success

Turpentine/white spirit usually for sap. (Not if you have just Rustoleumed your van though!)

Autosmart Tardis as shown in the link above by Brian is a good product and I have used this prior to machine polishing, however, for quickness I'd personally go for a Bilt Hamber clay bay, you'll be amazed by the results as it will also remove other contaminants that waxing & polishing won't.
