Anyway back to the plot. I sourced a good second hand rad. I also cleaned up some dodgy looking brake pipes that sit right up behind the rad, I am glad I did because they started leaking! I say glad I did because best to find out now and NOT whilst driving down a mountain pass high up in the Pyrenees eh?

New pipes crafted and fitted (no leaks) :ok

I was pleased when I got the rad to find a plastic fan shround a larger fan BUT it turned out I could not fit it as the orifice was too small for the larger shroud :? PROBLEM was the old shroud was pretty fooked and was destined for the tip! Luckily I missed the opening time so I rescued it and tried to breath some life into the rotten thing

Standby for the next thrilling installment!

So, I have been repairing the old steel shroud, not pretty but it works until a better replacement turns up. It was so rotten that it partially collapsed and stopped the fan from turning!

Another deserted hilltop village. A lot of villages in rural Spain have died after the people moved to cities for a better way of life!

Lots of work being done on roads but if you use the fast routes you miss out on the real Spain?

We took a breather on this level bit after climbing for around 20 minutes! :ok

Thanks Peeps. It was a quick trip. I suppose we are quite lucky as we are only roughly 4 hours from the Spanish border. The Pyrenees are stunning on either the French or Spanish side but of course Spain feels a little more adveturous somehow? :)

Are the Pyrenees safe? I get a lot of drama stories that my dad has read in the caravan club magazine about people being robbed venturing up there. Maybe its just the ones with a BMW X5 and 20ft caravan that shout "I'm loaded rob me" get done over??

I guess anywhere can be dangerous mate, you just need to watch your back. People go on travels and think they are in a little security bubble sometimes? I feel more threatened in a large city than the great outdoors but thats not to say it does not have its own dangers.

Cheers peeps. I am even amazed myself when I look back at this topic. Over the last 4 years it does not seem so bad and I guess, for me, its a past time doing the repairs. I am fortunate that my van is a second (3rd) vehicle so that takes the pressure off a bit. People ask me why I want an old van (phillistines) but I have hardly had a time without one for the past 30 years!
