Oil pressure switch confusion

Post by ghost123uk »

Ok my oil leak turned out to be from the plastic part of the oil pressure switch that is located near the water pump.

Now I have read all the posts and understand how the dual oil monitoring system works.

( buzzer of doom and bod typed here just for "search" functionallity for others )

Now JK list them as

A - Oil pressure switch (black 1.2-1.4 bar) T25

and

B - OIL PRESSURE SWITCH(BLUE 0.15-0.35bar) T25

All the info on here and wiki and links say the one near the water pump should be .9 bar ??????????

and the JK one is listed as being black and 1.2 to 1.4 bar (mine is grey)

Anyone help explain :?:

Haynes shows the (high pressure) switch as 0.9 bar on the wiring diagram, 1.9 bar in the key to the wiring diagram and 0.9 + or - 0.15 in the engine chapter. No confusion there then
The link in the wiki http://www.benplace.com/oil_pressure_sender.htm
Shows an additional switch (later engine?) white 1.8 bar.
The important thing is that the switch should be open circuit with no pressure. the low pressure switch is the opposite (contacts closed no pressure.)
In a hurry.

Well I got the correct Grey one from the VW dealers, not too bad at £9

All sorted now - no oil leaks anymore :)
