No Fuel and Water indications

Just started up the van after a lay-off (no probs as always!) but no fuel or water temp indications (clock has never worked). Fuel is full and driven around for ten minutes, still nothing. They're obviously both on the same side of the binnacle so I'm assuming an elect issue. Before I start fettling has anyone any experience with anything similar. Really don't like driving with no water temp! Thanks.

it's likely to be your voltage regulator on the PCB either lose, dirty or possibly blown. There are quite a lot of threads on this - for example here:

Just out of interest, I have no fuel gauge but a half hearted water temp gauge, is this likely to be the same problem or more likely the sender on the fuel tank.

not entirely sure what you mean by half-hearted. I'd do the usual things of cleaning up connection to the PCB, making sure your earth crowns are good. Have you tried earthing the wire from the fuel gauge sensor in the tank to see if that shows up on the dial. I suppose a poor connection to the voltage regulator on the pcb might have something to do with it - it's a case of trying various diagnostic tests until you figure out which bit's wrong. Hope you do figure it out though.

Just a bit of feedback on my fuel/water temp gauge issues. I got hold of one of the voltage regulators from ebay as listed in one of the topics on here. Had a nice bit of father and son time replacing it and all appears to be well - result! Thanks for the info.

Thanks Ewen, I have a raft of jobs this weekend, and checking the sensors and electrics are part of it. The temp only ever seems to get upto just over the white line when warm and never higher. V's 1.9 petrol does the same but hers does get hotter in stationary traffic.

I have a replacement voltage regulator and a replacement fuel sender already, so hopefully it will be a connection issue or one of those.
