Distributor

Post by yorkshire chuffa »

Hey, have a 1987 T25 1.9 DG water cooled and need a second hand distributor to test out a fault - live in Gloucestershire and looking for somewhere to get this without buying new?

Will run for about 30 minutes then cuts out; re-starts and then repeats problem. Changed carb, fuel filter changed, solenoid checked - any advice?

Garage say they eliminated fuel/carburetor problem - keep spending money on their diagnosis which doesn't solve it - need someone who can be honest and get us on the road again!

Remote diagnosis is at best difficult, I'm sure you'll agree.
we here can give better advice and suggestions if all of the symptoms and remedies are listed.

is this a cold engine that runs 30 mins?
or at any temp?

After travelling for 30 - 40 minutes engine cuts out - never cuts outs initially after starting up -

Simple check for the coul is whether it is hot at the point if cutting out
When it cuts out does it restart imediately?
Then run for 30 mins again?

Was the filter cleaned in the carb fuel inlet?

What is the garages logic behind the distributor
