Slight oil leak

Post by nin73 »

Hi,

Just been looking around my camper doing some jobs and noticed this very slight oil leak. [img][/img]

Any ideas what is leaking? I am thinking the gearbox may have a very slight leak.

I can't tell from that could be the crankshaft oil seal.

Your pushrod tube covers are missing too

Are the pushrods the shiny bits to the side of the picture?

Are the covers vital?

VW put them there for a reason ... if a stone flicks up and dints a tube against the rod it will wear through and you lose your oil ...
