What sort of biles do you renovate ? (I own a 59 650 Matchless G12CSR and a 56 BSA B33 uprated with Goldy internals and trim)
Got a new van, but it's a 165bhp T4 [shock horror] Accurate LPG Station map here

Hi I don't do british bikes anymore, I did do a 750 Bonnie 7 years ago but had to sell on through lack of storage at the time, I have now moved from Blackpool to Kent so have a garage once again I tend to buy Yamaha Fj1200s they are cheap to buy spares are still available they are still wanted as a touring bike and the prices are creaping up and I have gathered a lot of spares over the years.
At the moment my stable consists of a 1986 FJ1200, 2000 Firestorm 1000cc, 2005 KTM 450cc enduro, and a 1992 Honda Goldwing 1500SE. work in progress.
You have a nice collection are you planning on building on it? do you show them ride them or just admire them?
I retired early after selling my hotel so I only do bikes to keep me occupied really but I have not been without a bike of some sort since 1966 and I could not begin to name them all I have had over thirty in the last 10 years.

Re: Choke pull down unit
Well I changed the choke pull down unit kindly sent to me by Kev the Rev thanks much appreciated, but it didn't cure my problem it still won't tick over.
I have changed the fuel filter and the fuel pump as I had spare ones that came with the van I also changed the plugs, leads, roter arm and distributer cap all supplied with the van and all new and it still wont go!!!
Must be something silly as I drove it 200 miles without a problem before this started I will keep you informed just in case somebody is interested on the outcome.

Re: Choke pull down unit
The idle speed cut off or anti dieseling valve.
Have you checked that it opens?
It is attatched to the carb and is electrically opened as you switch the ignition on. Allowing the van to idle.
It opens with an audible "click" but this does not allways ensure it's opened fully.
Remove it (one screw) and see

Re: Choke pull down unit
I have not checked it yet but I will, I assume you are talking about the Bypass cut of valve?

Re: Choke pull down unit
Ok Let me tell you what happened I picked the van up on the Saturday from Somerset and drove 218 miles home to Kent with no problems allbeit a bit sluggish but to be expected as I normally drive a 170bhp Volvo v70.
Sunday it started fine so decided to go to garage to get fuel as I have read that the guage is not to be trusted I drove about 140 yards and it started hunting gave it a rev and managed to keep it running but it was a struggle so decided to go back and check it, I got back and it stalled and would not start tried for about 20mins and eventually it fired but would not tick over, when I bought the van it came with new plugs, Leads,, and rotor, dis cap, filter, and fuel pump all new so I put them all on and it still would not tick over and it didn't want to start each time it stalled, I took the top of the carb and cleaned it all out and blew compressed air through
the jets put it all back no difference, changed the choke pull down unit still not working, have checked for air leaks can't find any. all I am doing is working my way through it checking everything I can anything I cant check I will take to a garage to have it checked but it will have to be delivered on a transporter as it is not driveable so I will do my bit first. All ideas gratefully received
